The Palazzo Resort Hotel, Casino and Convention Center

Las Vegas

This 50-story luxury hotel and casino ranks among the top 10 buildings in floor space, and at its opening was the largest LEED Silver building in the world. The Palazzo has 3,025 suites, including 375 concierge-level suites and six spacious villas. It features a 105,000-square-foot casino, 375,000 square feet of upscale shopping, world-class dining and entertainment, and 450,000 square feet of meeting and conference space.

As structural engineer, Walter P Moore met the challenge of stacking this complex, multi-use building over the below-grade parking garage by creating a robust Building Information Model to detect spatial interferences between structure, utilities and finishes prior to construction. This was one of the earliest major uses of BIM, and resulted in substantial time and cost savings to the owner.

Walter P Moore also provided comprehensive parking consulting, including master planning, functional design and graphics programming for the complex. We recommended an innovative parking guidance system to improve parking level of service and patron experience.
