Brian McElhatten, PE, SE


Brian is the Managing Director of the Chicago Structures group at Walter P Moore. He has more than two decades of experience in all phases of structural design, analysis, and construction. His expertise ranges from aviation, commercial, higher education, healthcare, residential, mixed-use, tall buildings, renovation, retail, convention center, and rail station. 

He has also led and managed structural work on multiple projects, is responsible for proposal development, and maintains client satisfaction relationships. He is a co-founder and Chair Member of the Council on Tall Building and Urvan Habitat (CTBUH) Chicago Chapter, a member of the Structural Engineering Association of Illinois (SEAOI) Annual Structures Symposium Committee, a member of the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE), member of the ASCE SEI National Technical Program Committee for the National Structures Congress, and a member of the ASCE SEI Tall Buildings Committee.

It's satisfying to see a project be built after all the hours of design and documentation.
What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of work?
I enjoy home improvement projects, playing soccer, watching sports, fishing, and spending time with my children.
