In this role, the graduate engineer in the Construction Engineering Services team will work on projects for contractors, steel fabricators and erectors, and the like. Primary roles supporting their Project Manager will include: analyzing and validating structures at different stages of construction, developing construction sequencing for complex structures, analysis and design of temporary structures to support construction, and steel connection design. Candidates must have strong computer analysis skills and coursework covering a broad array of topics in steel design.

Structural Technical Modeler

The Structural Technical Modeler is a top-level drafter/technician (non-supervisory level), and is responsible for preparation of construction documents for BIM drawings and details on a variety of projects that range vastly in scale, detail, and complexity. A Structural Technical Modeler should be able to rapidly develop structural building information models (BIMs), annotate plans and details, create three- dimensional renderings, rationalize geometry for appropriate structural schemes, and assist with creating structural narratives. Works closely with design originator, project managers and team of engineers and modelers; may recommend minor design changes requiring sound judgment and discretion. May guide or be assisted by lower-level technicians Performs non-routine and complex assignments from verbal instructions and under minimal supervision.
- Coordinates all BIM activities with project manager, designers, and engineers
- Interacts with clients and team members regarding project models
- Uses latest tools/digital workflows to efficiently create and maintain BIM information and to interoperate with analysis, documentation, fabrication, and construction models
- Assists in the development of structural detailing in documentation models
- Works with Project Manager to establish de-adlines to stop internal work prior to plotting deadline to ensure time is left to check quality and accuracy of deliverables
- Assists in preparing and annotating structural details
- Uses tools in support of project-specific digital implementation
- Periodically checks model content for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to graphic and modeling standards
- Properly organizes structural and reference models
- Archives various deliverables, models, and databases at key milestones
- Updates and maintains related project documentation (OneNote, BIM execution plans, sheet lists, etc.)
- Knows the various types of structural elements and materials used in the BIMs and deliverables
- Works towards understanding key structural systems, their components, and typical layout/geometry/dimensions associated with them
- Works with senior engineers to learn detailing conventions for commonly encountered conditions (cladding support, etc.) and project-specific details (parking ramps, arena vomitories/seating units, medical equipment support)
- Supports company-wide efforts to build effective relationships with employees, clients, industry partners, community stakeholders, and vendors in a way that reflects and supports company core values and meets or exceeds expectations

Graduate Enclosure Consultant - Diagnostics

In this position the qualified individual will investigate and determine the service life of building enclosure assemblies. The qualified individual will assess enclosure systems, and design repairs for existing enclosure systems. They will perform enclosure review to assess air infiltration, rain water control, heat transfer, and vapor transmission. They will perform building performance analysis including evaluate daylighting, solar heat gain, thermal energy transfer, and holistic integration of the enclosure with building mechanical, lighting, and plumbing systems.A sound technical background and excellent oral and written communication skills are required. A technical background in CADD and building performance modeling software is preferred. You'll develop a strong background in building façade and roofing assemblies, understanding of building science and thermal analysis concepts as well as a knowledge of modeling building performance and sustainability.Job Responsibilities will include:
