Lee Slade, PE
A Senior Principal and the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Walter P Moore, Lee has spent his entire distinguished career at the firm. From 2001 to 2019, he led the firm's Structures Group, which spans 16 U.S. offices and four international locations and encompasses specialty groups in structural engineering, façade engineering, parking services, secure design, and construction engineering.
Throughout his prolific career, Lee has served as a visionary leader, both for the Structures Group and for the firm as a whole. Under his direction, Structures grew by $30MM in revenue, added three new practice areas, opened eight offices, and added 60 new Principals (including 12 Senior Principals). He has served on the firm’s board of directors for 25 of his 42 years with Walter P Moore, and has been instrumental in helping drive strategic growth and positioning.
After starting his career primarily focusing on the structural design of healthcare facilities and spending a decade leading Walter P Moore’s firm-wide marketing efforts, he has focused his professional activities in the design of sports facilities, including venues with retractable roofs. As leader of the firm’s sports market sector for 15 years, he helped found the Association for Retractable Roof Operators Worldwide and remains active in the International Association of Venue Managers and the Stadium Managers Association. Lee has published widely and lectures frequently in both academic and industry environments.
